Bec and James

There are weddings that you photograph, and then there are weddings that stay with you forever. Bec and James' elopement was one of those days.

I first met Bec and James through church and it didn't take long before we became good friends. When they asked if I would photograph their elopement, I felt incredibly honoured. Being invited into such an intimate moment of someone's life is always a privilege, but it's even more meaningful when it's people you know and care about.

They chose to celebrate their marriage with a simple and heartfelt elopement at the top of Manning Stairs in Cottesloe, with just a few family members as witnesses while those who coudln’t attend watch via Face time. With breathtaking views across the location provided the perfect backdrop for a day that was focused entirely on what mattered most, their commitment to one another.

One of my favourite details from the day was a beautiful tradition that reflected Bec's heritage, for her wedding ring to be worn on the right hand rather than the left. It was such a meaningful reminder that every wedding is unique, shaped by the traditions, cultures, and stories that make each couple who they are.

The entire day felt peaceful and intentional, just two people deeply in love, promising forever to one another while overlooking one of Perth's most stunning coastlines.

As a photographer, these are the moments I love capturing most. The genuine smiles, the quiet glances, the happy tears, and the laughter that happens naturally when couples can simply be themselves. Elopements have a way of stripping away distractions and allowing the story of the couple to take centre stage.
