Maddison and Jay
A Backyard Wedding
I had the absolute honour of capturing Maddison and Jay’s wedding, and it was truly something special.
Held in the family’s backyard, the day carried a quiet kind of beauty intimate, familiar, and deeply personal. It felt like more than just a location; it was a place already full of memories, now becoming part of a new chapter in their story.
One of the most unexpected and beautiful parts of the day was their daughter. From the moment she met me, she stayed close—clinging to me through much of the day, which surprised more than a few people, especially an uncle, as she had only met me that morning. I kept saying she must have known I’m a teacher. At times I even had her in my arms while photographing the reception, and it became one of those soft, in-between moments I won’t forget.
Maddison and Jay were stunning together—calm, present, and completely grounded in the meaning of what they were doing. Nothing felt forced, just real love, real connection, and real joy.
Watching their friends and family gather in the backyard to witness their commitment was incredibly moving. There was something powerful about it all unfolding in such a familiar space, surrounded by the people who have shaped their lives.
And you know it’s a good wedding when your bridal party brings you KFC during portraits… ….. and you somehow end up doing a full “KFC photoshoot” in the middle of it all. Definitely one of those unexpected, hilarious moments that made the day even more memorable.
The night flowed effortlessly into the reception, filled with laughter, heartfelt moments, and dancing that carried the celebration well into the evening an ending that felt just as warm and full of life as the day itself.
